Cricket News: Lahiru Thirimanne and Dasun Shanaka were named Sri Lanka’s one-day universal and Twenty20 global commanders separately for the forthcoming voyage through Pakistan after 10 players quit the visit over security reasons.
The declaration on Wednesday comes two days after Dimuth Karunaratne and Lasith Malinga, the occupants, educated Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) of their reluctance to head out to Pakistan.
Different players who decided not to play were Angelo Mathews, Niroshan Dickwella, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva, Thisara Perera, Akila Dhananjaya, Suranga Lakmal and Dinesh Chandimal. Kusal Mendis was inaccessible for choice because of damage.
The SLC has named squads including players with moderately lesser experience, with uncapped batsman Minod Banuka set to make his introduction in both ODI and T20I groups.
